Currently, one has to wait 13 weeks on the unemployment system before being allowed to apply for a reduced-fare pass. This pass does not include tube travel. If you are unemployed, you want to get out of that situation as soon as possible...waiting around for busses and spending 2-3 times longer travelling across London on a bus does not help one to secure a job any quicker. Just because someone is unemployed does not mean they should be expected to waste their time travelling innefficiently. By having the opportunity to travel around on the tubes at a reduced rate: getting around quicker and easier, more employers could be contacted in a shorter period of time and people could get themselves off of the unemplyment benefit system much quicker.

Last month I spent £600 in commuting looking for a new job due to redundancy. Now I got my new job, but my pounds has gone. TOTALLY AGREE!
